Kiké Hernández Soaks Reporters as Dodgers Celebrate NLCS Trip

The Los Angeles Dodgers are headed to the NLCS after beating the Atlanta Braves 4-1 on the road, and as usual, Kiké Hernández made sure the celebration spilled over onto the media covering the team.

Videos from the visitors’ locker room at Truist Park showed Hernández dousing reporters and broadcasters with champagne and alcohol as the Dodgers celebrated their series win. Before the spraying started, manager Dave Roberts gathered the team and said, “I want to give props to Kiké,” to which Hernández immediately shot back, “I do this s—. F— you talking about?”

One of the soaked targets was David Vassegh, host of “Dodger Talk,” who was wearing a 1970s-style Dodgers shirt with Hernández’s face printed on it. Vassegh told Hernández he was the hype man for closer Edwin Diaz, prompting Hernández to reply, “I’m the hype man for a lot of people. That’s part of why I’m here.” Hernández then joked that the scene amounted to a “wet t-shirt contest” and capped the exchange by telling Vassegh, “Nice nipples,” which left the host laughing.

Dodgers dugout reporter Kristen Watson got similar treatment, with Hernández pouring a bottle of champagne over her head as their interview began. “Oh, baby, that’s cold,” Watson said. “But it feel so good.”

Watson pressed on with her questions about the team’s postseason success and how the Dodgers pulled through the NLDS. Hernández turned serious for a moment, saying, “It doesn’t matter how many of these you have; you can’t take them for granted. These are special. Knowing we had to earn it. It was a great series. Very well-pitched series. We toughened it out.”

Midway through the interview, reliever Tanner Scott began pouring alcohol down Hernández’s shirt without him noticing. “I’m so wet, that I didn’t even feel that I was getting more wet,” Hernández said once Watson pointed it out.

Hernández’s bat backed up the party mood. In Tuesday night’s Game 3, he gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning with his 17th career postseason home run, connecting off Atlanta’s Chris Sale. Freddie Freeman followed shortly after with a solo home run over the right field wall.
