Hayley Williams Escalates Feud With DHS After Agency Defends ICE Officers

Paramore singer Hayley Williams posted a profanity-laced response to the Department of Homeland Security on Monday, continuing a public dispute that began after she criticized U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during a concert in Chula Vista, California.

Williams shared a screenshot on her Instagram Story responding to a DHS statement that had defended federal immigration officers. “And may I suggest all Nazi b—— suck on my fat d—,” Williams wrote, according to Rolling Stone.

The exchange traces back to a recent Chula Vista concert, where Williams paused her performance of the song “Ice in My OJ” to criticize ICE before continuing the set. During the same show, she also shouted, “Free motherf—— Palestine!” in support of Palestinians.

After that performance, a DHS spokesperson pushed back, telling Fox News Digital: “America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe. We suggest Ms. Williams to thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice.” Williams’ weekend Instagram post was her reply to that statement.

A Pattern of Political Statements on Tour

Williams has used other stops on her solo tour to make political remarks. A clip recirculating online from a September performance at Forest Hills Stadium in New York shows her telling the audience, “The greatest threat to American democracy is Christian nationalism,” before performing her song “True Believer.”

That comment drew criticism from Lisa Cusack, president of the Don’t L.A. My Burbank PAC, who told Fox News Digital the remark was “incredibly ignorant” given Christianity’s role in American founding documents. “There would be no natural law without Christianity, and without that, no human rights that exist beyond a government’s power,” Cusack said. “Christianity sees all people as made in the image of God, so are all valuable, no matter how successful, and puts self-sacrifice above power.”

Williams has a history of mixing political commentary with her performances. During Paramore’s set at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival, she urged audience members to vote against Donald Trump, citing concerns about his agenda and the country’s democratic future.

DHS Points to Rise in Assaults on Officers

Williams’ latest comments come as DHS reports a sharp rise in assaults against its personnel. According to agency data, there were 647 assaults against ICE personnel between Jan. 20, 2025, and Sept. 20, 2026, compared with 37 during the equivalent period from Jan. 20, 2021, through Sept. 20, 2022 — an increase the agency says amounts to 1,649%.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin has previously defended ICE officers amid the reported rise in attacks, saying, “The brave men and women of ICE, who are simply enforcing the laws mandated by Congress and protecting the American people, are under attack every single day.”

Fox News Digital said it reached out to DHS for comment on Williams’ most recent remarks but had not received a response as of publication.
