Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) told Fox News host Jesse Watters on Friday that some Democratic candidates softening their public message ahead of upcoming elections are, in her view, radicals trying to appear moderate.
Appearing on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Luna pointed to Wisconsin’s Democratic primary as an example of how turnout, not just messaging, will shape results nationwide. “So really, this election across the country is going to be determined by how many people show up and vote, and if those people truly believe the attack ads, or if they are thinking independently and can see through all the noise,” she said.
Watters had asked Luna what Republican donors, pollsters and insiders were telling her about how the elections might turn out, noting that her own office “might shrink” and that she could face pushback in committee.
Luna argued that some candidates on the left who have embraced the Democratic Socialists of America are tied to troubling attitudes among young voters. She referenced survey data she said shows people who identify as left of center are more likely to say an assassination of the president or of Elon Musk would be “somewhat justified.” She also invoked the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the multiple assassination attempts on President Trump’s life.
“And so, the radicals that are now posing as moderates could not be further from the truth,” Luna said.
She added that while Republicans are “not perfect,” she believes the party’s record, including the One Big Beautiful Bill, gives voters reason to back the GOP again. “We believe it’s the greatest country on earth. And if you like lower taxes, if you like what we’ve been able to do and accomplish in the One Big Beautiful Bill for the American people, then show up on Election Day and give us another try,” she said.
