Dakota Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly were seen together for much of Friday in Los Angeles, the latest sign their relationship is progressing since rumors of them dating first surfaced last month.
The pair were photographed in the morning leaving a Los Angeles music studio. Johnson, 37, wore jeans, black flats and a long black leather coat with a gray sweater draped over her shoulders. Machine Gun Kelly, 36, whose legal name is Colson Baker, wore a denim jacket and matching trousers over a white tank top with brown boots. He was seen helping Johnson into his car as they left together.
The two resurfaced that night, leaving the Chateau Marmont around 11:30 p.m. and sitting side by side in the back of a car. Photos showed them still in the same outfits from earlier, though Machine Gun Kelly had taken off his denim jacket.
How the relationship began
Dating speculation about the two started last month after they were photographed exiting a black SUV together in New York City, then heading to Taylor Swift’s Tribeca apartment, where Swift reportedly was not home at the time.
A source told Page Six that “Taylor has let friends use her NYC properties before, and Dakota and Colson wanted privacy, so they headed to her apartment.” The source described early chemistry between the two, saying, “Colson had a really nice time with Dakota. He thinks she’s really cool, and obviously, he’s attracted to her. It’s new and they’re just getting to know each other, but there was definitely something there, and he would like to see her again.”
Last week, Machine Gun Kelly appeared to spend the night at Johnson’s house following a studio session in Los Angeles. Photos and videos obtained by Page Six showed the two meeting in the studio parking lot before getting into his Maserati together, and his car was later seen still parked outside her house the next morning.
Recent breakups
The relationship comes a little over two months after Johnson’s split from singer Role Model became public. Machine Gun Kelly ended his relationship with Megan Fox in 2024.
A source told TMZ that Fox is “completely unbothered” by her ex spending time with Johnson, saying, “Megan’s put their former romance firmly in the rearview and has bigger things on her plate. … She’s got no interest in getting involved in his love life.” Fox and Machine Gun Kelly reportedly communicate now mainly to co-parent their 1-year-old daughter, Saga Blade Fox-Baker.
A separate source told Page Six on Friday that “Megan isn’t just unbothered by MGK dating Dakota — she’s actually relieved he’s moving on,” adding that she “doesn’t want him back.”
