Every team in the NHL debuted a new alternate jersey program on Monday called “Hometown Remix,” a league-wide collaboration with apparel company Fanatics designed to tie each team’s uniform, gear and headwear to the culture of its home city.
Fanatics, which became the NHL’s official on-ice uniform and authentic outfitter ahead of the 2024-25 season, worked with the league for two years developing the designs for all 32 clubs.
“Few symbols in sports carry the history, pride, and emotional connection of an NHL sweater,” said Brian Jennings, the NHL’s senior executive vice president and chief partnership and club strategy officer, in a press release. “Hometown Remix builds on that legacy in a fresh and authentic way, celebrating the fans, culture and communities that make each NHL market unique.”
“Together with Fanatics and our clubs, we’ve created designs that are rooted in local identity and tell a story about the cities and fans they represent. We’re incredibly excited to bring the program to life and see that passion reflected both on the ice and in the stands.”
The Florida Panthers, Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks wore their new jerseys on the ice for the first time Monday night. Every other team is expected to wear its Hometown Remix uniform at various points for the rest of the season.
Each design was built from scratch with an emphasis on local landmarks and motifs. The Blackhawks’ jersey uses a green base with the team’s current logo and gold shoulder patches, with four debossed six-pointed stars on each sleeve referencing Chicago’s city flag. The Panthers’ jersey draws on beach-tee style graphics and features a remixed version of the team’s throwback shoulder patch logo as its front crest.
Other teams leaned into their own local touches, including the Winnipeg Jets, whose jersey includes a full aurora borealis scene along the hem, and the Boston Bruins, who will wear a brown jersey for the first time in more than a century.
“Hometown Remix represents the most exciting initiative our team has designed and delivered with our partners since we hit the ice with the NHL in 2024,” said Dom Fillion, Fanatics’ vice president of creative design, in a press release. “What makes this program so special is the collaboration with each club and together leaning into the history, culture, fabric and identity of every city and fan base to make sure these felt as authentic and personal as possible. We can’t wait to see them worn by the teams on the ice and the fans in the stands all season long.”
This is the first league-wide uniform program to come out of the NHL-Fanatics partnership, though Fanatics has previously designed special jerseys for marquee events such as the 4 Nations Face-Off, the Winter Classic, the Stadium Series, the Heritage Classic and the upcoming 2027 All-Star festivities, along with various team anniversary and centennial jerseys.
