Even with all the progress our society has made to have equal rights, there is anti-gay discrimination everywhere we look.
A well-known, gay Tennessee couple was looking for the perfect school for their son. They received a letter from the school stating that their son may not attend:
“Although Davidson Academy is not sponsored by or affiliated with any specific church or denomination, the school was founded by Christians and operates in the Christian tradition based upon clear tenets of faith and practice.”
Although the Christian belief system does not believe in same-sex marriages, it does practice compassion, acceptance and love.
Was the Davidson Academy wrong by not letting the couple’s son to attend? This is a private school, which does give them the right to admit whom they please.
The married couple, Brian Copeland and Greg Bullard, has been awarded for their services to families all over Tennessee and they also run the LGBT food pantry that feeds over 200 families.
All the couple wanted was for their son to be given a fair chance at a quality education where he would be safe and welcomed.
Outraged by the discrimination that his family has endured Brain posted on Facebook:
“Sadly enough, an acquaintance called the school this morning and told them she had been through a divorce because she cheated and that she now lives with her three kids and her boyfriend. The administrator welcomed them with open arms and offered an appointment.”
Now if the reason Brian and Greg’s son was not admitted to the school was because the school was based on a Christian belief system, then why is the school making an exception for a woman who committed adultery and is living in sin with her boyfriend?
