On Thursday, the House voted along party lines to give Rep. Ilhan Omar the boot from her seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee due to her previous derogatory remarks about Jewish people, as well as her anti-Israel stance.
The vote passed 218-211 to remove the “Squad” member, with every Democrat voting to keep her on the committee. Unfortunately for them, they are no longer the House majority. The GOP’s majority is slim at the moment, but it was enough.
Originally, Republican Reps. Victoria Spartz, Nancy Mace, and Ken Buck opposed removing Omar. However, their vote flipped by Thursday and they went along with the rest of the part.
Majority Whip Tom Emmer told Breitbart News that Omar has “no place representing American interests” on the Foreign Affairs Committee.
“There is no debate that Ilhan Omar, the face of antisemitism in the Democrat Party, has no place representing American interests on the Foreign Affairs Committee. Ms. Omar is an embarrassment to Minnesota and our country.”
Omar is known for promoting anti-Semitism, such as when she claimed that Israel is “all about the Benjamins” and that they have “hypnotized the world.”

The Muslim lawmaker also made remarks at a conference hosted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in 2019, stating that the group “was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”
These are just a few examples of things she has said. There are many more that could be added to the list.
Omar spoke on the House floor ahead of the vote and vowed “to continue to speak up, because representation matters” despite of her anticipated kick from the committee.
“Is anyone surprised that I am being targeted?” Omar asked. “Frankly it is expected because when you push power, power pushes back.”
