Edwin Meese, the former Attorney General who served under Ronald Reagan, submitted a court declaration characterizing the prosecution of Trump DOJ official Jeffrey Clark as an unprecedented “major affront to federal supremacy” in American history.
Clark had been serving as Assistant Attorney General at the Department of Justice and was under consideration for appointment as Attorney General by President Trump.

Ed Meese, aged 91, is unable to appear in court on Monday when Jeffrey Clark will present his case.
“So, he won’t be open to being cross-examined and, as a result, it’s unclear whether judge will consider Meese’s statement. Not clear if Clark himself will testify. Fulton County DA has subpoenaed another Trump Asst. AG, Jody Hunt, for the hearing.” Politico’s Josh Gerstein noted.

Last month, Fani Willis initiated criminal charges against President Trump and 18 others under the RICO Act and for conspiracy in response to their efforts to contest the 2020 election.
In doing so, she violated First Amendment rights, prompting state lawmakers to take action in an attempt to remove her from office.
Jeffrey Clark, a former official of the Trump Department of Justice, was indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on two counts: one count under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), and twenty-two counts of criminal attempt to make false statements and writings.
In August 2022, Jeffrey Clark appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox to discuss the FBI raid of his Northern Virginia residence. He reported that he exited his home in his pajamas while twelve FBI officers, two Fairfax County police officers and an ‘electronic sniffing dog’ conducted a search that lasted for over three hours.
Additionally, all electronic devices belonging to Mr. Clark were confiscated during the investigation.
