Bondi Cracks Down, Arrests Anti ICE Church Mob Leaders

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced federal arrests tied to a mob that disrupted a Minneapolis church service, naming Nekima Levy Armstrong and Chauntyll Louisa Allen as defendants while the Justice Department investigates possible violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and the Ku Klux Klan Act.

Pam Bondi put law enforcement front and center this morning when she announced arrests connected to the group that stormed Cities Church in Minneapolis. One of the people taken into custody was Nekima Levy Armstrong, who federal agents with the FBI and Homeland Security detained. Bondi framed the action as a matter of public safety and protection for houses of worship.

“We will share more updates as they become available. Listen loud and clear: WE DO NOT TOLERATE ATTACKS ON PLACES OF WORSHIP,” Bondi wrote on X. That message was blunt and purposeful, signaling a federal response to what authorities call an organized, targeted intrusion into a religious service.

According to authorities, Armstrong helped organize the mob that overtook the worship gathering at Cities Church. Protesters confronted parishioners while chanting “Justice for Renee Good” and “Hands up, don’t shoot,” and they pressed the congregation about a pastor who also works for ICE. The scene has been described by local leaders as an aggressive takeover of a sacred space, not a peaceful demonstration.

Bondi also announced the arrest of Chauntyll Louisa Allen. Authorities say Allen is accused of participating in the same coordinated action inside the church, and federal charges are now under review. The arrests underscore a fast-moving investigation into whether the demonstrations crossed into criminal conduct.

On January 19, the Department of Justice confirmed it was probing the incident and looking at who organized the takeover, including public figures who participated. Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon said both the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and the Ku Klux Klan Act would apply to this case. “The Klan Act is one of the most important federal civil rights statutes,” said Civil Rights Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon on The Benny Johnson Show. It’s a law that makes it illegal to terrorize and violate the civil rights of citizens. Whenever people conspire this, the Klan Act can be used.”

The involvement of federal civil rights prosecutors sends a clear message that coordinated attempts to intimidate worshippers or to target people for their association with immigration enforcement will not be treated as routine. From a Republican perspective, officials should use every lawful tool to protect citizens and places of worship from political violence. That includes enforcing statutes designed to stop conspiracies that disrupt civil liberties.

Local reports also named a former national media host among those present, and the DOJ’s inquiry extends to anyone who played a leadership role in the disruption. If the FACE Act or the Klan Act fits the facts, defendants could face serious federal exposure beyond simple trespass or disorderly conduct. The legal theory being cited aims at conspiracies that deprive people of rights through intimidation and interference.

Events like this fuel a broader national debate about the line between protest and criminal conduct, and they show why Republicans emphasize law and order when public safety and religious freedom collide. Bondi pledged she would continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses, and federal authorities are already coordinating to sort out who planned, led, and executed the church takeover.

The next steps will play out in court filings and indictments if prosecutors find sufficient evidence, and the invocation of civil rights statutes highlights the federal stakes. For now, arrests by the FBI and Homeland Security mark an early phase of accountability in a case that mixes high-profile activists, media figures, and a religious community that says it was violated.
