Louisiana AG Charges Man Claiming Roblox Programmer For Child Abuse

Louisiana police arrested 30-year-old Jamie Borne of New Orleans after finding child sexual abuse material and a child-size sex doll, and investigators say devices seized from his home contained illegal images; he had claimed to be a Roblox programmer, a claim denied by the company.

State police in Louisiana arrested a 30-year-old man identified as Jamie Borne after a probation and parole compliance check led officers to see a child-size sex doll in plain sight inside his bedroom. Borne told officers he was lonely and later admitted he purchased the doll, which he believed was imported from China.

Officers who returned with a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force say they found child sexual abuse material on multiple devices at his residence. Authorities seized 11 items in total, including laptops, external hard drives, a USB drive, and cell phones, which investigators say contained illegal files linked to children.

Borne was booked on February 27 on one count of possessing, trafficking, or importing a child sex doll. He was arrested and booked again on March 17 on 40 counts of child sexual abuse material involving kids under 13, according to charging information released by prosecutors.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill commented on the case, saying, “Our Criminal Division is now prosecuting this disturbing case against Jamie Borne” and “If you possess child sexual abuse materials or child sex dolls, you will face Louisiana justice.” Those statements underscore the state’s intent to pursue the matter aggressively.

Roblox was drawn into the story because Borne told officers he worked as a programmer for the online game platform, a claim the company rejected. The platform is frequently used by minors and has faced scrutiny and legal challenges about how predators can misuse its tools to contact children.

The individual is not, and has never been, a Roblox employee. Roblox’s platform allows people unaffiliated with the company to build experiences that are governed by our robust community standards. We currently have more than 2 million creators using our technology to build. We have deactivated his experiences and banned his accounts in accordance with our off platform behavior policy in our community standards.

Roblox’s statement emphasizes that many people create games on the platform without formal ties to the company, and that it removed the accounts and experiences tied to the individual in question. Critics argue the platform must do more to prevent predators from exploiting user-created content and private messaging tools to contact children.

Law enforcement and child protection advocates have repeatedly warned that free-form creator tools can be misused, enabling strangers to pose as peers and coax minors into sharing explicit images or meeting in person. In several prior incidents, predators reportedly used game chat and direct messaging to manipulate young users, sometimes leading to criminal encounters.

Investigators say Borne had a prior conviction that included a guilty plea to aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and illegal discharge of weapons, and that history played a role in the compliance check that uncovered the doll and digital evidence. The prior record alerted probation officers, who then involved specialized investigators.

State-level legal action against large platforms has increased in recent years as attorneys general and families press claims that companies failed to safeguard children or adequately warn parents. Louisiana has filed suit alleging the platform facilitated distribution of illegal material and misled families, and other states have pursued similar legal claims.

Officials declined to disclose detailed evidence in public filings, citing the sensitive nature of the images and the ages of the victims. Prosecutors say they will continue to review the seized devices and pursue charges consistent with the laws protecting children from exploitation.

The arrest and charges against Borne illustrate a recurring pattern authorities say they see when tools meant for creativity and play are weaponized by predators. Law enforcement notes that community reporting, probation checks, and interagency task forces remain essential to uncovering hidden abuse and bringing suspected offenders to justice.

Families and community members faced with possible online exploitation are encouraged to work with local law enforcement and child protection professionals to report concerns and to document potential evidence without attempting to confront suspects directly. Investigators say preserving devices and information for a formal probe increases the chance of successful prosecution and victim support.
