The juror who held out for a guilty verdict against former nurse Lindsay Clancy, leading to a mistrial earlier this month, has released his first public statement without going through an attorney or intermediary.
Michael Desronvil, who is reportedly staying at an undisclosed location, appeared in a video statement that aired on Fox News’ “Hannity” Monday evening.
“I know the whole focus has been on me, but we want to reel everything back and put the focus on the three angels,” he said. “The ones that can’t speak for themselves, the ones that can’t defend themselves, and the ones that can’t fight the battles — and those are Cora, Dawson and Callan.”
He also spoke briefly about his own experience during the case.
“I want to thank God for my Catholic faith,” he said. “I want to thank God for blessing me with the ability to love my daughter. And foremost, I would like to thank everyone, every individual, that has supported me throughout this difficult situation.”
Desronvil had previously issued statements through his attorney, Edward Paltzik, and in comments to YouTuber Ray Marcel, who streams under the name FugitiveTV. Those earlier remarks largely responded to accusations from other jurors who claimed Desronvil wanted to find Clancy guilty despite having doubts about the prosecution’s case. Desronvil has denied those allegations.
In an interview with Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany over the weekend, Paltzik said his client is certain in his position.
“Michael has zero doubt,” Paltzik said.
Paltzik also disputed a local report referencing prior domestic violence allegations against Desronvil.
“Every single allegation against Michael is false, fabricated, never happened, categorically false,” he said. “It just didn’t happen.”
The dispute has escalated between Paltzik and Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, who has called Desronvil “the obstructionist juror” and asked the court to investigate claims from other jurors that he refused to follow the law during deliberations.
Clancy is scheduled to appear in court in Plymouth on Tuesday for a status conference. Prosecutors are expected to update the court on plans for a new trial. Clancy’s defense team has also filed motions seeking dismissal of the charges and asking for an investigation into the jurors’ allegations against Desronvil.
