One person was killed and six others were wounded Sunday afternoon when multiple gunmen got out of a vehicle in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood and opened fire shortly after noon, according to CWB Chicago.
The man who was killed has not yet been identified. At least 60 rounds were fired during the attack, police said.
Officers said one of the suspected shooters, described as a Black male wearing a black hoodie over a white shirt and dark pants, may have been struck by a car and suffered a broken leg while fleeing the scene.
Among the wounded is a 14-year-old boy, the youngest victim, who is expected to survive, according to CBS News. Another survivor, a woman who was driving when the shooting began, crashed into a CTA bus as a result of the incident, WGN-TV reported.
No arrests have been made, and the shooters remain at large.
The shooting adds to a violent year in Chicago. The Chicago Sun-Times reports 298 people have been killed in the city so far in 2026.
