Alec Baldwin Calls Trump Years a 'Nightmare,' Urges Midterm Turnout

Actor Alec Baldwin posted a video to Instagram on Monday describing life under the Trump administration as a “nightmare” and urging people to vote in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

“We’ve been living in this nightmare — for me and my political consciousness — it’s been a nightmare,” Baldwin said in the video. “I can’t believe we’ve arrived where we’ve arrived. But the beginning of the end of that nightmare is tomorrow.”

He repeated the word “tomorrow” for emphasis, telling viewers the midterms represented a chance to change the country’s direction. “Tomorrow, we go and make our first step in the direction we think this country should go in, which is to really, really be more sane. The world we’re in now, the America we’re in now is insane. It’s insane,” he said.

Baldwin argued that current policy runs counter to broader consensus. “We do everything contradictory to all common wisdom,” he said. “The common wisdom of people around the world, and here we are in this nightmare.”

“We get off that path tomorrow. 2028, that’s an eternity. Two years is an eternity, in political terms.”

He closed the video by repeating his central message once more: “Tomorrow, the midterm, we begin to step in the direction of getting away from this nightmare. It begins tomorrow.”

Baldwin has been outspoken about his concerns over the Trump administration, including after the president pushed to expand federal law enforcement presence in Washington, D.C.

The actor has also been dealing with his own legal troubles stemming from the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the film “Rust.” Last year, Baldwin, who has described himself as a “scapegoat,” filed a civil lawsuit against the Santa Fe district attorney alleging malicious prosecution over the criminal case brought against him. That civil lawsuit was dismissed last month.
