In October of 2019, Nikki Haley, the former Governor of South Carolina and Republican presidential candidate grabbed headlines with her acquisition of a grand waterfront estate on Kiawah Island.
This wealthy beach community is renowned for its seclusion, golf courses, and exclusive guests.
According to the New York Post, this purchase occurred approximately five months after she accepted a position on the board of directors for Boeing, an aerospace giant.
The property in question is a 5,700-square-foot Mediterranean-style mansion that overlooks the Kiawah River and is surrounded by centuries-old oaks and palmettos.
This estate was purchased for 2.4 million; significantly less than its initial 3.3 million asking price.
The Post reported that in 2003, a Mediterranean-style dwelling spanning a half acre was constructed on Kiawah Island. With century-old oaks and palm trees adorning the landscape, the site boasts picturesque views of the Kiawah River.
Located just an hour from Charleston, South Carolina, Kiawah has been renowned as an affluent but low-key beach destination with excellent golfing opportunities and its renowned Sanctuary resort.
Several distinguished guests have visited over the years including Bill and Hillary Clinton, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey and President Joe Biden.

During the GOP Presidential debate, Vivek Ramaswamy criticized about how rich Haley had become.
“Nikki, you were bankrupt when you left the UN. After you left the UN, you became a military contractor. You actually started joining service on the board of Boeing, whose back you scratched for a very long time, and then gave foreign multinational speeches like Hillary Clinton did. And now you’re a multimillionaire. That math does not add up. It adds up to the fact that you are corrupt,” said Ramaswamy.
