Republican Rep. Barry Moore has won Alabama’s U.S. Senate race, defeating Democrat Everett Wess to fill the seat being vacated by Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who is leaving to run for governor.
The Associated Press called the race for Moore at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday. With about 79 percent of votes counted, Moore led with 55.5 percent of the vote, or 817,194 votes, to Wess’s 44.5 percent, or 654,998 votes. Wess is a criminal defense attorney.
Moore, a member of the House Freedom Caucus and a former small business owner, entered the Senate race in August 2025 shortly after Tuberville announced his bid for governor.
President Donald Trump endorsed Moore in January, calling him an “America First Patriot.”
“Barry Moore is a good friend, fighter, and WINNER, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next United States Senator from Alabama,” Trump said.
Moore’s campaign drew a long list of Republican endorsements beyond Trump, including Vice President JD Vance and Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR), Bernie Moreno (R-OH), Ted Budd (R-NC), Steve Daines (R-MT), and Cynthia Lummis (R-WY). A large group of House Republicans also backed him, among them Jim Jordan (R-OH), Troy Nehls (R-TX), Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Mary Miller (R-IL), Scott Perry (R-PA), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Mark Meadows (R-NC), Mark Harris (R-NC), Josh Brecheen (R-OK), Brandon Gill (R-TX), Clay Higgins (R-LA), Keith Self (R-TX), Warren Davidson (R-OH), Tim Burchett (R-TN), and G.T. Thompson (R-PA).
Conservative groups also lined up behind Moore. The Senate Conservatives Fund and the Club for Growth PAC both backed his candidacy. Moreno called Moore an “America First warrior,” and Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh described him as a “battle-tested conservative champion,” pointing to his fiscal record.
Moore’s primary campaign also got a boost from outside money tied to the cryptocurrency industry. Defend American Jobs, a super PAC affiliated with the Fairshake network, spent $5 million on a five-week advertising push announced in February. The ads ran on broadcast television, Fox News, and streaming platforms and emphasized Trump’s endorsement. The group said Moore would “protect American jobs and champion innovation” and help “make America the crypto capital.”
