CNN’s Devan Cole shocked a lot of readers recently by making the statement “[i]t’s not possible to know a person’s gender identity at birth”.
First of all, I believe that Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana made a rather strong but factual statement denying this claim made by CNN.
Devan Cole is a breaking news and political writer for the infamous network and this article was written in response to Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota banning transgender women and girls from competing in women’s sports.
In his article, Cole mentions that “Noem do not explicitly mention transgender athletes, they reference the supposed harms of the participation of “males” in women’s athletics — an echo of the transphobic claim”.
However, it’s not a transphobic claim, it’s a real concern.
