Trump Again Backs Netanyahu Ahead of Tight Israeli Election

President Donald Trump renewed his public endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday evening, two days before Israelis vote in an election too close to call.

“Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister, we have to finish the job that we started!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump credited his partnership with Netanyahu for military gains against Iran, pointing to Operation Midnight Hammer, which struck Iran’s nuclear facilities, and Operation Epic Fury, the broader U.S. military campaign against the regime.

“Bibi and I have had a great relationship in winning together,” Trump wrote. “Then we did Operation Epic Fury, and Iran now has No Navy, No Air Force, and both their Military and Economy are in shambles.”

Trump also claimed Iran’s inflation had reached 301 percent and credited a U.S. naval blockade with limiting the country’s oil revenue, while noting the elimination of several levels of Iran’s military and political leadership. He called Netanyahu an “outstanding Warrior Prime Minister” and said chants of “Death to America, Death to Israel” could no longer be tolerated.

The fresh endorsement came after a report from Axios saying Netanyahu had privately pressed Trump for more public support, speaking with him twice over three days and suggesting language for further statements. Likud spokeswoman Neta Molcho denied that account, saying Netanyahu had not asked Trump for campaign help, either recently or before his original endorsement a week earlier.

Trump’s message Sunday echoed warnings he made in his first endorsement, when he said Iran had already been crippled militarily and financially and that the U.S. and Israel would “soon finish the job” unless Tehran changed course quickly. He also suggested a Netanyahu loss could leave America to deal with Iran alone.

“If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so,” Trump wrote last week. Netanyahu responded at the time, “Together we will complete the mission!”

The renewed push comes as Trump weighs whether to pursue talks with Tehran or order further strikes. “Do I make a deal with them or do I finish them off? That’s the only question,” he said Sunday on Fox News.

Final polling ahead of Tuesday’s vote showed neither Netanyahu’s coalition nor the opposition bloc on track to reach the 61 seats needed for a majority in Israel’s 120-seat parliament.

Netanyahu, for his part, released a campaign video Sunday featuring an AI-generated image of a nuclear blast over Tel Aviv, warning of a possible “second Holocaust” if Iran obtained nuclear weapons. Visiting an Israeli Arrow missile-defense battery the same day, he warned that Iran and its proxies could try to disrupt the election, citing Israeli intelligence, and said any attack would draw a devastating response.

With the race unsettled, it remains unclear what effect Trump’s renewed endorsement will have when Israelis vote Tuesday.
